Copper Age in Middle East

Seven population jumps are reported in the copper age in the middle east. Their yfull time estimates are from 5200 to 6200 ybp. The region that is restricted is longitude: 28-47 and latitude: 28-41. In this group is one E-M84 branch, see E-M35 with a suggestion to a relation to the Kish culture and the start of the Semitic language in this area. The other branches are J1 (2 times) and J2 (4 times).

No population jumps are present in this region in the period between 6200-8000 ybp and between 4000-5200 ybp.

While the location of the branches is not accurate, the relation with the copper age state societies can be argued. It is a reported period of rapid growth of cities and invention of writing.

This page is created because of the large number of related (in time and location) population jumps. The mixture in branches (J1, J2 and E) might have contributed to the different languages in the middle east. Next to the Semitic languages (probably related to the E-M35 branch) the J1 and J2 may be related to languages of Sumerians, Northcaucasian or Southcaucasian languages. Notice that, on the timescale of a new language development (10000 years) a few J1 branches were present (10000 ybp) while many J2 branches were present, so it is possible to have several J2 descending lines, which have no traceable language relation.

Below are the branch splits that characterize: longitude between 28-47 degrees, latitude between 28-41 degrees and branchsplit between 4500-6500 ybp in the haplogroups J1, J2 and E.
